Complete a leader rating assessment

Applicable Roles:
- Administrators
- Supervisors
The Leader Rating is a step in the Assessment Program. It allows a leader, usually a person's direct supervisor or a coach to reflect on the performance of a participant in an assessment program on a series of questions grouped into Willingness and Ability categories and provide specific comments. The leader or coach will look back on the participant's performance over a specific period of time and accurately assess the person's performance over that period of time. Leaders can perform the assessment blindly, meaning an assessment can be completed before the individual has completed his or her self assessment. If leaders perform the assessment after the self assessment has been completed, then the individual's self assessment results will be visible for each question.

The leader rating is your turn to reflect on a person's achievements, abilities, willingness, and motivation.
Why do they matter?
Leader rating assessments provide an opportunity...
- To objectively assess the person’s past performance for a specific period of time.
- For you and the person you are coaching to assess strengths, areas of improvement, and more.
- To gauge how the person's performance is aligning with the expectations of you and the organization.
There are four different routes you can take to begin the leader rating. However, regardless of how you get to your leader rating, it's important that you know how to complete the leader rating and submit it just before its due date. This article will show you the different routes to begin the leader rating and explain how to complete it effectively.
To begin your leader rating, you have four options:

Complete the leader rating
No matter which method you used to start the leader rating, you can complete it by following the steps below.
- Click START on the popup message window that appears on the instructions page.

- After watching the short video clip and reading the instructions, click CONTINUE on the top right corner of the screen. An assessment form will open with categories and questions for you to complete.

Complete the assessment form by adding a score for each question, be sure to include comments explaining your rating, and provide performance-based justifications.

Use the CHECK ALL AS "TOO NEW TO RATE" button as a shortcut to automatically set all your scores to 0 if the participant has not been in the role long enough to demonstrate the capabilities of a particular skill or behavior.

Leaders evaluating the participant before the individual completes their self assessment will not be able to see the participant's submitted scores side by side the evaluator's questions.
As you select scores in the form, the changes will reflect on the left panel and your progress will be displayed automatically. The circle on the quadrant chart on the left panel represents your total score updated in real time. The circle will move across the quadrant as you make changes to your selections in the assessment form.
- Click the PREVIEW button in the left panel to display the assessment form in preview mode.

- Click OK to move to the next section of the assessment form or use the forward and backward arrows to advance or go back through the assessment questions. Click FINISH LATER in the left panel to continue at another time.

- Click COMPLETE to submit your leader rating assessment form.
Now that you have completed and submitted your leader rating assessment form, you will receive an email notification to schedule a dedicated 1:1 meeting to discuss the results with the person. During your live 1:1 coaching session, you can review your leader rating and feedback in comparison to the individual's self assessment. After the discussion, review and adjust the leader rating assessment scores as needed and submit the final scores.
