Applicable Roles:
  1. Administrators
  2. Supervisors
  3. Contributors

The self assessment is a key step in the Assessment Program, as it allows an individual participant to reflect on how she or he performed against success criteria specific to the individual's role in the organization. Each participant is invited to self assess. In the form, the individual will rate themselves on a series of questions grouped into Willingness and Ability categories and provide comments. The person is encouraged to look back over a specific period of time and accurately self assess their performance over that period of time. Once the individual completes the self assessment, the results will be reviewed by the coach/leader, who will also complete an independent assessment of the individual.

A self assessment is your opportunity to reflect on your past performance.

Why do they matter?
Assessments provide:
  1. An opportunity to objectively assess your past performance for the specific period of time.
  2. An opportunity to grow and improve over time.
  3. An opportunity to gauge how your performance is aligning with the expectations of your leaders and organization.
You can take three different routes to begin your self assessment form. However, regardless of how you get to your self assessment, it's essential that you know how to complete the self assessment and submit it just before its due date. This article will show you the different routes to begin the self assessment and explain how to complete it effectively.

Complete your self assessment

No matter which method you used to start your self-assessment, you can complete it by following the steps below.
  1. Click START on the popup message window that appears on the instructions page.

  2. After watching the short video clip and reading the instructions, click CONTINUE on the top right corner of the screen. An assessment form will open with categories and questions for you to complete.

For each question, rate yourself from 1 to 5. 5 is the highest rating. Think of a 3 as the norm for the role and the skill or behavior. Use 0 if you have not been in the role long enough to demonstrate capabilities of a particular skill or behavior.

  3. Complete the assessment form by adding a score for each question, including comments explaining your score, and adding performance-based justifications

  4. As you select scores in the form, the changes will reflect on the left panel and your progress will be displayed automatically. The circle on the quadrant chart on the left panel represents your total score updated in real time. The circle will move across the quadrant as you make changes to your selections in the assessment form.

Use the CHECK ALL AS "TOO NEW TO RATE" button as a shortcut to automatically set all your scores to 0 if you have not been in the role long enough to demonstrate the capabilities of a particular skill or behavior.

  5. Click the PREVIEW button in the left panel to display the assessment form in preview mode.

  6. Click OK to move to the next section of the assessment form or use the forward and backward arrows to advance or go back through the assessment questions. Click FINISH LATER in the left panel to continue at another time.

  7. Click COMPLETE to submit your assessment form.  You will be redirected to My Assessments page where you have the option to recall your submission.

The recall option is available only if the evaluator has not started the leader/coach rating assessment.

Now that you have completed and submitted your self assessment form, you are almost done.
Your evaluator will receive an email notification to complete an assessment of your performance. Your evaluator will schedule a 1:1 meeting before your final scores are recorded for the review period.
